The loop in our country.

Living in this country seems like a continuous loop of fear and frustration. The cycle of crime in our society is never-endingβ€”a dreadful crime occurs, people object and circulate posts on social media, yet nothing changes, only for another, even more heinous crime to take place. It appears that only when a woman dies in a tragic incident does the discourse about safety begin, only to drift away after a few days and repeat indefinitely.

Women are unsafe, the construction of roads fails to reflect the taxes we pay, and the country is in chaos. Public transportation is a laugh, and it feels as if you could die at any time for no fault of your own. However, we keep chanting "Saare Jahaan Se Achha."

It’s ironic how every girl born is told to wear certain clothes and stay at home after dark just because the men outside have no control over themselves. It's crazy how women have to think about being safe 24/7 and worry about whether they will be next. On August 15th, we may have received freedom, but India remains shackled. India is never free from the psychopaths roaming around, trying to find a new victim. It's ironic how these men to be educated are said to be "unrealistic.”

The incident that took place on August 9th has probably shaken the entire country, as, approximately 12 years after the Nirbhaya case, something so brutal could still occur. Yet one of the criminals is in police custody while others are freely roaming around; that they can sleep at night is, frankly, surprising.

The initial autopsy report, which was a four-page report, spoke about how evil the whole incident was.

There was blood in her eyes and mouth, as well as injuries to her face and nails. The victim was also bleeding from her private areas. She had injuries in her abdomen and left leg, neck, right hand, ring finger, and lips. Her neckbone was also discovered broken. Her legs were found to be at a 90-degree angle. Her pelvic grilide was said to be completely shattered and broken. The authority stated that the injuries were homicides. It can't get any worse as a crime. It cannot be expressed in terms of the pain and torture she may have experienced.

The postgraduate trainee doctor was wearing her uniform and had just stepped out for a 5-minute break after working for 36 hours. She had no idea what was going to happen next.

The doctor, when she read about Nirbhaya, might have believed it was the worst thing that could happen to a woman and that our country would change. Unfortunately, she was mistaken. The nation failed her.
