Forever
The Cornerstone of Development-
It’s the 23rd of June, 2024, and I just came back from a two-week trip to Switzerland. Regardless of the happiness I may show on social media, the trip made me realize the importance of my family, my pure stones. Throughout the trip, I felt the need to have my mum beside me, telling me it’s alright if people don’t like me, my dad who would give me much-needed advice, and my brother who would make me smile even when I don’t want to. I have realized that family is the only thing that remains constant when everything else has changed.
Family stands as the cornerstone of our identity, providing unwavering support and infinite love. The love within a family is typically unconditional and cannot be replicated. I may not always show the love I have for my family, but I know they understand how much they mean to me. The people we meet throughout our lives may come and go, but family is what stays and sticks together.
Growing up, I have seen and felt so much, both good and bad. I have been hurt a thousand times by both family and friends, but the pain from my family has never been intentional. The pain and harsh words have made me grow strong, overcome hardships, and grow without fear of rejection or judgment. I might not excel in studies or extracurricular activities, but my mom has been the wall between me and a world that sometimes feels hostile. I am so proud of her for standing strong.
My dad and I are so similar; I have his dominant genes, which make us alike in many ways. Having him as my soul guardian has taught me that love doesn’t always need to be shown openly. Despite my anxiety and self-doubt about my appearance or worth, they have always seen me as a perfect girl with no flaws.
Family ties tend to endure regardless of friends or schoolmates leaving. My family has provided me with a safety net that I would never have received under someone else’s shelter. From the moment I was born, my small family enveloped me in a cocoon of unconditional love. This love has always been a steadfast and unwavering force, unlike any other. It is the comforting embrace of my mother, the protective watch of my father, and the shared annoyance and laughter with my brother.
I am so grateful for my family and will be thankful to God throughout my life for giving me a place filled with people I can call home. I will grow, make mistakes—both small and significant—learn, love, explore, and most probably have regrets, but I know I will always look back to my family who have sacrificed everything for me and who will always care for me, even if I change or don’t become the best.
